Need the instruction set for the LTC preset torque wrench with interchangeable heads? Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Please note that these wrenches click in one direction meaning that they apply and measure torque in the clockwise direction. This preset torque wrench comes with an arrow engraved on the case that calls out which direction torque will be applied and measured. You can use this tool to loosen a fastener in the counterclockwise direction, but you will NOT be able to measure the amount of applied torque.

When the wrench clicks, the designated amount of torque has been applied. Stop pulling. Continuing to pull after the wrench clicks can increase the applied torque to a value that exceeds the engineering specification.

What about the handle? It looks like foam, is it?

The outer grip on our LTC (limiting torque control) wrenches is made from PVC foam. This preset click wrench comes with an inner and outer grip. The inner grip is Sturtevant Richmont blue and you can see a small portion of the inner grip, giving it a stylish look.

The inner grip is made from Plastisol and has a Durometer rating of A65 +/-5/

The outer grip comfort factor owes its characteristics to the PVC Foam construction. The Durometer says it has a Shore rating A53 +/-5.

The slightly softer handle over the harder handle provides excellent grip control while making the tool very comfortable in the operator's hand.

 Applications

Preset Interchangeable Head torque wrenches are ideal for any application where:

  • The fastener or fitting to be tightened cannot readily be engaged with a socket.
  • The same torque is to be applied repeatedly.  Interchangeable Heads for Torque wrenches
  • It is advisable to eliminate the possibility of having the operator set the wrong torque value on the tool.
  • Repeatability and reliability are paramount.
  • Simplicity and high operator efficiency are needed.
  • Very high durability is important.
  • In 1956 we applied for the first patent on interchangeable heads for torque wrenches. We made one-piece heads back then. We still do.
  • All of our heads fit on all of our wrenches. Our largest head fits our smallest wrench. Our smallest head fits on our largest wrench.
  • No need to buy additional wrenches and heads to cover fastener size in the same torque value.

These needs are common in assembly and standardized field maintenance operations, and the LTC-Series tools are superb for these types of applications.

Features and Characteristics

  • SR Dovetail Head connects to over 200 SR Interchangeable Heads for robust flexibility and versatility.
  • Fewer wrenches and heads to buy to cover the entire torque range spectrum because ALL of our heads fit on ALL of our wrenches.
  • The SR Dovetail transmits the load at a right angle from the wrench to the head, providing exceptional strength and rigidity of the connection.
  • A pin lock on the dovetail assures positive head connection, yet permits head changeover in seconds.
  • LTC-Series torque wrenches have +/- 4% Indicated Value Accuracy from 20% to 100% of capacity, meeting or exceeding the requirements of ASME B107.300-2010 and ISO 6789.
  • When we preset your tool to your specified torque value at the factory, we include a free Certificate of Calibration from our ISO 17025 Accredited Lab.
  • Error Proofing by Design flattened case provides supports mechanism so it is easier to calibrate and hold calibration longer.
  • A flattened case reduces side loading.
  • Error Proofing By Guidance creates excellent tactile and audible pulse when the preset torque is achieved.
  • Comfortable cushion grip plus lightweight for excellent ergonomics.
  • Left-hand threads or torque direction can be accommodated by turning the wrench over before installing the head.
  • The torque is preset and locked in with a special CART tool. Combination Adjusting and Release Tool (CART) P/N 819117 allows the operator to easily adjust torque on all SLTC -FM, SLTC, LTC, LTCR, and LTCS wrenches.
  • Torque can be set using any unit of torque measurement.
  • Can be ordered preset from the factory or you can set the torque with your own torque tester.
  • Wrench measures torque in the clockwise direction.
