Note: All of our open end heads and ratcheting open end heads have the U-bottom design. We changed from the V-bottom to to the U-bottom to increase durability. From an engineering standpoint a rounded corner distributes the stress vectors more evenly than designs that have intersecting planes. 

If for some reason you want the V-bottom design, we can make that for you as a special. Different pricing, minimum order quantities, and increased lead times apply.

Open End Interchangeable Heads

Like all Sturtevant Richmont, interchangeable heads our open-end series consists of one piece, cast heads that are made from a proprietary metal formula. The rounded corners distribute the stress vectors so they don't all intersect at one point and create breakage. The same applies to the U-bottom design. The rounded bottom distributes the stress vectors and that improves durability. 

Our heads all come with a torque rating clearly shown on the head. 

Remember: ALL of our heads fit on ALL of our wrenches.
