On January 25, 2021, President Joseph R. Biden signed an Executive Order raising the requirements for products to meet the Made In The USA standards.

The next two paragraphs are taken from the White House website announcing the president's action.

"Today, while many American businesses are on the brink of having to close their doors because of the crises that our country faces, President Biden will sign an Executive Order to support manufacturers, businesses, and workers to ensure that our future is made in all of America by all of America’s workers.

With this order, President Biden is ensuring that when the federal government spends taxpayer dollars they are spent on American-made goods by American workers and with American-made component parts. This Executive Order fulfills President Biden’s promise to make Buy American real and close loopholes that allow companies to offshore production and jobs while still qualifying for domestic preferences."

We celebrate the President's action. We think that it has been long overdue.

Sturtevant and Richmont both started out as companies that made products here in America. When Dresser Industries merged Sturtevant and Richmont, the focus remained on sourcing American-made materials and making our products here. Dresser consolidated the factories to one location in Addison, Illinois.

Today, our factory is one town over, in Carol Stream, Illinois. We haven't moved far from the original factory. We haven't moved far from our original values.

You'll hear us say that we will never reshore.  We can't. We never left. We've always had our factory here. We've always sourced locally. Our idea of importing is bringing parts in from exotic places like Minnesota or Ohio.

We use a proprietary grade of steel for our torque tools. That steel is made in the USA. The gears in our ratchets are made here. We buy springs and screws that are made in the USA. We've been doing business with our suppliers for decades. They know us and we know them. And we both know what our customers want and need.

Our customers value the high-quality levels that tools and testers made in the USA provide.

We know that our competitors have long sourced parts from other countries and then assembled the products here to meet the former Made in America standards. While that complied with the letter of the law, it was far from the spirit of the law.

That approach gave our competitors a price advantage. It also gave them a quality disadvantage. Made In the USA isn't about flag-waving. Made in the USA is about superior accuracy, reliability, and durability. Those are the very same reasons that customers around the world trust our tools.

Please join us in celebrating President Biden's action.  While our competitors are scrambling to upgrade their supply chain and hope that their products meet the new standards, know that ours have always exceeded the current standards. We are anxiously waiting for the standards to be raised again.
