Having appropriate
torque application tools and calibrating them properly and regularly
are the first steps towards assembly integrity. For many firms,
internal calibration of the torque testers themselves presents
a significant cost savings as well as a means of asserting positive
control over their calibration practices.
For those
desiring this enhancement of savings and control, we offer the
best in transducer calibration equipment and standards. All S/R
calibration platforms, weights, and arms come with a NIST-traceable
certification.
Transducer
Calibration System Design
We work with each customer individually to design the optimum
system for their needs in their operation at their location.
Our attention
to detail even extends to weights compensated for gravitational
variation.
Calibration
Table
Proper support for the components used in transducer calibration
is absolutely essential. Insufficient support can result in the
entire process biased by deflection! Our Calibration Table is
designed not merely to support the weight of fixtures, arms, and
weights, but to assure exceptional stability. A sound foundation
is essential building accuracy!
Calibration
Fixture
The S/R Calibration Fixture is a masterpiece of load management
design! The calibration arms are supported in a dual-bearing system
to effectively eliminate measurement error attributable to side
loading. When used with the S/R Calibration Table, load distribution
is managed to assure the greatest precision and the lowest possible
measurement uncertainty.
Calibration
Arms
All S/R Calibration Arms use an arc design to assure stability
of the center-to-load point distance throughout the entire calibration
process.
Calibration arm lengths are measured using the latest in laser
linear measurement equipment for the ultimate in precision.
Inifinite adjustability of counterweight location within the limits
of travel assures the ability to start from level with each calibration
and reduces another source of variation.
S/R has four Calibration Arms ranging from 2.5 in./ (63.5 mm)
through 48 in./ (1219.2 mm) in lever length.
Calibration
Weights and Platforms
The platforms and weights selected for use with each system are
chosen for accuracy, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
With the proper
gravitational survey information, the weights can be custom-made
with a gravitational offset. This not only assists in obtaining
the desired accuracy, it eliminates the need for cumbersome and
error-prone offset calculations.
